The NOAA National Operational Model Archive and Distribution System (NOMADS) is a distributed, web-services based project providing real-time and retrospective format-independent access to climate and weather model data and related datasets. OceanNOMADS is a NOMADS node dedicated to ocean-model data, with a focus on operational ocean models from NOAA and the U.S. Navy.

OceanNomads provides access to ocean modeling data by both direct download and OPeNDAP. Data is currently available for the NOAA Real Time Ocean Forecast System (RTOFS), Atlantic region, as well as selected regions of the Global Navy Coastal Ocean Model. One month's worth of daily model runs are for each dataset. In addition, OceanNOMADS offers access to NOAA's long-term archive of operational RTOFS runs.

OceanNOMADS is a pilot project supported in part by the Northern Gulf Institute. As the project matures, we hope to add more model data offerings, tools and tips, and links to other modeling sites and related data.

NOAA Real Time Ocean Forecast System - Atlantic (RTOFS-Atlantic) is NOAA's operational basin-scale model for the North Atlantic and Gulf of Mexico operated by the National Weather Service National Centers for Environmental Prediction.

Navy Global Coastal Ocean Model (Global NCOM) is a Navy operational model run daily by the Naval Oceanographic Office. NCOM has coverage of the global ocean, however. A subset of that domain covering the U.S. coast (western Atlantic, eastern Pacific, Gulf of Mexico) is available here.

Navy Intra Americas Sea Nowcast-Forecast System (IASNFS) is run daily by the Naval Research Laboratory. A subset of the IASNFS domain covering the Gulf of Mexico is provided here.
